Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

The 4-atoll and Male–Ari–Vaavu routes include many shallow reefs suitable for beginners and Open Water certified divers. The Deep South and Top 12 routes are better suited to Advanced Open Water and above due to stronger currents. Our team will advise the right vessel and route for your level.

Individual bookings are per cabin you share the boat with other divers. Full-charter means your group has exclusive use of the entire vessel. Half-charter is 10 cabins (approx. half the boat). Groups of 10+ typically find full or half-charter more cost-effective and more social.

FOC means free-of-charge places for group bookings. For example "17+3 FOC" means if you book 17 paying guests, 3 additional guests travel free. This is how the operators reward group bookings effectively a volume discount built into the price structure.

Mandatory on-board charges: Green Tax ($12/person/night) and Service Charge ($120/person/trip) paid directly on board. Extras include: Nitrox (~$50/trip), Wi-Fi (~$30/trip), alcoholic & soft drinks, diving equipment rental, scuba courses and any additional services. Dive insurance and travel insurance are mandatory.

The Maldives has two seasons. November–April (dry season) offers calmer seas, better visibility, and whale sharks in South Ari. May–October (wet season) brings manta aggregations in Baa Atoll (Hanifaru Bay) and slightly lower prices. There is no bad time visibility rarely drops below 20m.
